With taking EME 2040 this semester, I hope to learn new technological skills that I can apply in future working experiences, specially learning how to do things in the windows. I am familiar with a lot of technological platforms like Powerpoint, Canva, IMovie and many more but all through the Mac. So I am curious to learn how to do shortcuts in the Windows, to familiarize myself with the Windows at the same level of how I use the Mac. Overall, I want to learn more tricks and shortcuts in the platforms that I am already familiar with, specially Excel.
With my prior experiences using technology in an educational setting, I am comfortable with using Google drive and OneDrive applications. Although I prefer OneDrive applications, I have used both platforms to create assignments, group projects, essays and much more. For presentations, I usually use a template from slidesgo.com, and utilize that template for class presentations and much more. Additionally, I love making and editing videos on iMovie, and try to utilize my skills if there is ever some sort of video project for class.
For my personal learning network, I highlighted my love for google and my appreciation for Instagram. I am a very curious person, and always ask questions about everything daily, so google is the number #1 platform that I use to ask every, single, kind of question. While instagram is my favorite social media to stay updated with friends, family and news. I would not say I get my information of news from Instagram, but I learn of major news or an alert through it to then go to google to find out more about those news. I love learning about new ways to utilize technology, either a shortcut or a more efficient way, to make use of its full potential.
I love that you pin pointed specific tools that you have goals to learn and master like windows and excel, especially with the references to platforms you're already comfortable with. I think it'll definitely help so you aren't wasting time focusing on things you already know, and are challenging yourself with new platforms to expand your skills instead.
ReplyDeleteI have only ever used Google Suite, so I will definitely go to you for advice with OneDrive and Word. I love that you have used multiple forms of media in your educational experience, I would enjoy that as a student.
ReplyDeleteHi Maria! I also have a Mac, so I would love to expand my knowledge of different softwares. I think Windows is a great software, and it is good to familiarize yourself with platforms other than Mac incase your future students don't have access to the same softwares as you. I find it super cool you know how to edit videos on IMovie! That is a skill I dont have and would love to expand my knowledge on. As a future educator, making little clips and movies for your students could be a great learning tool to keep students engaged. I loved reading your first post! Good Job.
ReplyDeleteI also would like to get more familiar with Windows. I am definitely way more comfortable with Mac. I used to use iMovie all the time to make little Thanksgiving videos with my family! I love using slidesgo.com to find various templates when making a presentation.
ReplyDeleteHi Maria, I think it's so cool that you have experience with technology already coming into this course. I personally do not, but I can tell that it comes a little naturally to you based on how much you expressed your interest in it.
ReplyDeleteI also relate to wanting to learn new shortcuts in this course. I am more familiar with Mac and the functions that come with it. Also, I love Instagram too and a lot of my personal network is within that.
