Copyright is a way somebody can protect what they created or their intellectual property from being used or modified. Fair Use are different ways somebody can use and copy materials within reason, depending on how much is used and how its being used. Teachers are responsible to be a role model for students including utilizing technology correctly. Teachers can educate their students about the importance of protecting your intellectual property, also modeling the importance of developing your own instructional materials and not copyrighting. However, it does put into question how much copyright can dictate what can and cannot be used in the classroom?
Academic dishonesty is a rising issue with technology implementation in the classroom, specially how fast Artificial Intelligence (AI) has grown. With the rise of AI, it has also shown an increase in plagiarism for essays and exams. For asking students to simply just stop using AI is unrealistic because AI still rapidly growing and transforming educational perspectives. As a future teacher, if I am faced with students using AI to cheat and plagiarize, I would help students see it as a tool. I would teach students how you can utilize AI to brainstorm and editing. However, I would make the point of the importance of not replacing the original work. And if students are using AI for everything than I would make them write on paper their essays and big assignments to decrease academic dishonesty.
