Standards are educational goals or benchmarks that students should reach at a specific time or end of the school year. They provide a guide for teachers to create their curriculum for their students to meet these goals/benchmarks. A standard under Computer Science focusing on emerging technologies for grades 9-12, has 7 different benchmarks to have students accomplish to master the standard. For this standard SC.912.ET.1 "Analyze the impact of emerging technologies" helps student be aware of how to utilize new technology and how to use it wisely. Based on my current skill set, I would feel a bit prepared to implement this standard. However, I do agree I would need to do more research on how I can make the content relatable or applicable to teenagers. Specially, if I can make it relatable to them so they can be more interested in technology.
After browsing around at the resources and tools CPALMS provides for teacher, I can assume that CPALMS educator toolkit is such a good aid for teachers. With providing lesson plans, student resources, tutorials and so much more, teachers can utilize these tools as a base for the lessons they create or use it to add on their lessons. When I mean using it as a base of their lesson, teachers can use the lesson plans and planned activities as a foundation of their lesson and they can add on their own thing making it unique to their classroom. Or teachers can have their lesson already planned and add on suggested activities from CPALMS.
Internet searching is a very powerful tool in our society, obtaining information has never been easier to access. It is crucial for teachers to be proficient internet searcher as they should be a model to their students of correct internet usage. One internet searching skill that I should use more is advanced google search (I usually always use FSU library when searching for sources) but as a teacher having students learn how they can make their search more specific to what they are looking for will help them save time and much more. For also finding sources that students can access is important when making your content accessible to everyone.
Artificial Intelligence is becoming a hot topic over the last couple years. Today, it is now developed and it can become a tool that can be utilized in education. My initial thoughts of using AI in K-12 setting is that I believe teacher's should use it to their advantage. However, I do not believe teachers should copy and paste everything with AI, rather get new ideas, expand on lesson plans, modify pre-planned activities, and more. Using AI to improve a lesson can be beneficial, but teachers should still implement their own thing to the lesson to bring their uniqueness to their own classroom. In other words, you do not want a robot controlling everything, rather you want the robot to help you make your classroom better.
